Can someone please explain the ending of "The Blair Witch Project" to me?

I just watched The Blair Witch Project for the first time tonight, I know, I'm 12 years late, anyway, what is that guy Mike doing at the end when he's standing in the corner of the old abandoned house in the woods? Heather is screaming his name, but he's not responding. I don't really understand.
