Pride and Prejudice (by Jane Austen) help?

Actually, Elizabeth is not a liberal character. Although that is the general assumption, she is actually only uniquely level-headed. She happens to be brighter than the rather dull or feather-headed people around her such as Kitty, Lydia and even Charlotte Lucas, and that distinguishes her from the rest. Mr. Darcy is attracted to her because of her good looks, keen mind, and genuine nature. She does not try to impress him or flirt with him--which every other woman does--and he admires that in her. He finds it refreshing to be challenged, and he loves Elizabeth's brilliant wit, humor and steady nature.
