Favourite Classic book characters?

I was just wondering who are peoples favourite character from classic books? who your favourite male and female character? Personally i love Helen Graham (the tennant of wildfell hall) or Elizabeth Bennent. and as for male it would either be mr darcy or mr knightly. how about you?
